Indian Independence Day

The 77th Independence Day was commemorated with great pomp and grandeur at our school on 15th August 2023. Pictures of martyrs with thoughts and poems with colorful balloons and drawings were pasted on the notice boards, walls and the doors of the school auditorium. All the staffs and students assembled in school’s auditorium at 9:20 am to mark this significant occasion. The Pradhan of Lower Chauntra was extended a special invitation as the chief guest for the event. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and saluted it with great pride. The chief guest and his colleagues were welcomed in an Indian traditional way by applying vermillion on their foreheads by the class VII girls. Then Mrs. Rekha Devi delivered an introductory speech by highlighting the never to-be -forgotten glory and sacrifices made by the great martyrs and the warriors of India. After that the chief guest distributed the prizes for the winner of the best drawing for Class VI -X students.
A captivating cultural program was also held in the school hall, featuring participation from students of class VI-IX. Some classes sang patriotic songs and some danced and Class VIII D recited a poem. Its echo filled the ambiance with patriotism and nationalism. Thereafter, the chief guest took the stage to deliver an impactful speech by paying tribute to freedom fighters like Shahid Bhagat Singh, Sukh Dev and many others who fought against the British rule to secure India’s Independence. He emphasized the privileges enjoyed by today’s generation as a result of their sacrifices. Moreover, he also talked about how India stands with Tibet’s freedom struggle forever.
Finally, the program ended with a vote of thanks by our school Hindi teacher to the chief guest and his colleagues for their presence. She also expressed gratitude to all the participants who contributed to the event’s success through their performances. The celebration concluded on a sweet note, with the distribution of sweets to all the attendees.
