The School at Patlikuhl with over 600 children majority of whom are orphans and destitute was routinely threatened by fierce flooding specially during monsoon due to the change of course of the River Beas. With the State Government declaring the region as flood “Danger Zone”, we were left with no option but to evacuate and relocate the school to a new facility before any serious tragedy occurred.Much awaited project at Chauntra, 80 km away from Dharamsala was started on early 2000. Tibetan Children’s Village School, Chauntra is located in Himachal Pradesh in Mandi District. It is situated in an area of nearly15 acres of land. His Holiness the Dalai Lama inaugurated and blessed the school on 21st November, 2004. Like any other TCV schools, TCV Chauntra is a residential co-educational school with clear set missions and goals to be accomplished. In fact, it functions under the guidance and supervision of TCV Head Office located in Dharansala Cantt. (H.P.)
