Tibetan Children Village Chauntra commemorated the 64th Tibetan National Uprising Day on the morning of 10th March 2023 at 7 am.
The event was participated by the monks from Monasteries from Bir and Chauntra, our school students from class VI- X, and the staff and the people of Tibetan settlements; Nangchen, Bir Tibetan Society, Dege division, Bir, Lily Village, Tashijhong Tibetan settlement. We all marched till Sukpag. The program commenced with the lighting of a Butter lamp by the chief guest followed by the singing of the Tibetan and Indian national anthem. Thereafter one minute of silence was observed in solidarity with Tibetan Martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the nation. Then everyone unanimously sang the 10th March commemoration song and the chief representative welcomed the chief guest offering him a traditional scarf. In the speech of the chief guest he addressed the gathering about cultural relations between India and Tibet, and how Tibetans have gone through difficult times by surviving many onslaughts over the centuries. The presence of the Dalai Lama in India and the interest of the Government of India are the best guarantee of our survival. After that, the statements of the Kashag’s and Tibetan Parliaments in Exile were read by the representatives of Tibetan Settlement. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the secretary of the chief representative of Chauntra’s settlement.
